The tone is nostalgic, tender, and wistful. The speaker acknowledges losing his mother at an early age yet finds emotional solace and serenity by feeling her abiding presence in everyday sensations and nature.

  1. The poet’s tone is tender, nostalgic and reverent. While an undercurrent of melancholy exists because he cannot actively remember his late mother’s physical features, there is no bitterness or heavy grief. Instead, the tone shifts into serene contemplation as he warmly detects her continuing spiritual and emotional presence through familiar cradle tunes, morning flower blossoms and the wide open sky.
