Sacred Landforms of My Region (Delhi)
The Yamuna River: The Yamuna River is considered sacred by many people. It is associated with Lord Krishna, and devotees believe that taking a holy dip in the river brings blessings. Festivals like Chhath Puja are celebrated on its banks.
The Delhi Ridge: The Delhi Ridge is an extension of the Aravalli Hills. It is known as the “Green Lungs of Delhi” because it helps keep the city clean and cool. Many local people believe it protects Delhi from desert winds.
Folk Story: According to local beliefs, the Yamuna River is the sister of Yama, the God of Death. It is believed that anyone who bathes in the Yamuna with devotion receives good fortune and protection from suffering.
