With the availability of electric fans and air conditioners, people prefer modern cooling devices. This reduces the demand for handmade pankhas. As a result, artisans may lose their livelihood and the traditional craft risks disappearing over time. Technology, while helpful, has indirectly affected the cultural importance of pankhas.
