Compare 4/6 and 4/5. Who ate more?

  • 1

4/5 is greater than 4/6. Both have the same numerator, but the denominator is different. A fifth piece is bigger than a sixth piece, so eating 4/5 means eating more.

  1. When numerators are the same, the fraction with the smaller denominator is larger, because each piece is bigger. Between 4/6 and 4/5, both show 4 parts eaten, but fifths are bigger than sixths. So, 4/5 is more than 4/6. This means the person who ate 4/5 paratha ate more food.
