The Godavari is perennial because it flows throughout the year, supported by rainfall and tributaries. Seasonal rivers, however, only flow during the rainy season and dry up during the rest of the year.

  1. Godavari is a perennial river because it continues to flow throughout the year, thanks to regular rain in the Western Ghats and support from its many tributaries. This makes it reliable for drinking, farming and industry. In contrast, seasonal rivers depend entirely on monsoon rains and dry up during summer, which makes them less dependable for continuous water supply and human or ecological needs.
