  1. The term “green blanket” refers to the thick growth of water plants or algae covering a water body. This usually happens when fertilizers from farms enter rivers, causing fast plant growth. The blanket blocks sunlight, reduces oxygen and makes life hard for fish and underwater plants. It also makes the water look dirty and unsafe. Managing farming practices can reduce such harmful growth.
