  1. As you move east from the Thar Desert, you will spot the Aravalli Hills stretching across Rajasthan, Haryana, Delhi and Gujarat. These hills are ancient, worn-down ranges that run in a northeast to southwest direction. Though not very high, the Aravallis play a crucial ecological role by preventing desertification from spreading into the fertile plains. They are rich in minerals and home to historical forts, wildlife sanctuaries and sacred groves, reflecting both geological and cultural heritage.
