  1. Sand dunes are hills of loose sand formed by wind action in deserts. They usually appear in crescent, dome or linear shapes depending on wind direction and speed. A typical dune has a gentle windward side and a steep leeward side. These shapes aren’t fixed and can move or grow over time. The Thar Desert has many such dunes, which help geographers understand wind patterns and natural landscape evolution in arid environments.
