Graphical representation of equations and understanding their geometric significance is an important skill in mathematics. The CBSE 2024-2025 NCERT Class 11th syllabus includes the chapter Straight Lines to help students explore concepts such as the slope of a line different forms of equations conditions for parallel and perpendicular lines and the distance of a point from a line. Multiple-choice questions allow students to test their knowledge and improve their problem-solving approach. Regular practice of these MCQs enhances accuracy logical reasoning and speed. A clear understanding of straight lines is essential for higher studies board exams and competitive mathematics tests.

  1. Choice (b) is correct.
The equation of any line parallel to the x-axis is y = k
If it passes through the point (2, -3), then its coordinates must satisfy its equation -3 = k
Putting the value of k, the equation of the required line is y = -3
