The chief astrologer warned the Tiger King that his death would only be averted if he managed to kill exactly one hundred tigers. Even then, he cautioned, the King should beware of the hundredth tiger, as that particular tiger held the potential to fulfill the prophecy of his death. This warning instilled both confidence and caution in the King, leading him to obsessively hunt down exactly one hundred tigers in an attempt to thwart fate. The astrologer’s words made the hundredth tiger a symbol of destiny, one that the King believed he could control by skill and persistence.
