In ∆ ABC, right-angled at B, AB = 24 cm, BC = 7 cm. Determine:

  1. In △AABC, by Pythagoras theorem, we have
    AC² = AB²+BC²
    = (24 cm)²+(7 cm)²
    = (576 + 49)cm²
    = 625 cm²
    ⇒ AC = √625 = 25 cm
    (i) sin A = BC/AC = 7/25 and cos A = AB/AC = 24/25
    (ii) sin C = AB/AC = 24/25 and cos C = BC/AC = 7/25
