“Columnar” refers to the pillar-like shape of the epithelial cells, which are tall and elongated.

Columnar epithelium in the intestine facilitates absorption and secretion.

Columnar epithelium is found in the inner lining of the intestine and the respiratory tract.

“Squama” means scale of skin, reflecting the thin and flat nature of the cells in this type of epithelium.

The arrangement of epithelial cells in the skin is referred to as stratified squamous epithelium.
